The Viewmaker includes a redesigned system for object numbering, allowing numbering markers to remain visible in complex layouts and to be styled consistently across views.
The new system improves readability in top and elevation views while maintaining full compatibility with existing catalogs and legacy projects.
What object numbering does
Object numbering assigns a numeric label to boxes and walls in Viewmaker views.
These labels help identify elements clearly in drawings, printouts, quotations, and design reviews.
These labels help identify elements clearly in drawings, printouts, quotations, and design reviews.
With the redesigned system, numbering is:
-
Generated automatically by the system
-
Positioned dynamically to remain visible
- Styled consistently based on configuration
Dynamic positioning in Top views
In Top views, numbering markers are positioned dynamically based on the composition layout.
This means that when an element would otherwise hide a marker—for example, when a base cabinet is covered by a wall unit—the marker is automatically repositioned so it remains visible and readable.
This positioning logic applies primarily to Top views, where layout complexity is highest.
When two or more numbering markers overlap in a Top view:
- The markers are merged into a single marker
- All numbers are displayed together, separated by a

This behavior ensures that numbering remains readable even in dense layouts.
Style consistency across views
The visual style of numbering markers is configurable and applied consistently:
- A single configuration controls the appearance of numbering
- Box and wall numbering styles are defined independently
- For each element type (box or wall), the same style is applied consistently across all views
Note! In Front views, numbering does not introduce new positioning logic but inherits the configured style to ensure visual coherence with Top views.

Object numbering must be enabled through configuration settings. Once enabled, numbering is generated automatically and applied consistently according to the configured rules.
For technical details about enabling numbering and defining styles, see: Viewmaker configuration for object numbering.

Backward compatibility
This redesign maintains full backward compatibility:
- Existing catalogs continue to work unchanged
- Legacy numbering behavior remains available when no new configuration is defined
- Customers can adopt the new configurable system at their own pace
