3CAD Next allows designers to display and manage 3D labels (Lato 9) directly within the workspace and Viewmaker. These labels can show additional product information, dimensions, or notes, helping clarify complex projects.
With the latest updates, Lato 9 labels can now be managed independently for on-screen visibility and printing, offering greater flexibility without impacting graphic clarity.
Note: This animation displays a customized planner with the buttons positioned at the top of the workspace. However, the feature illustrated and its functioning are identical in standard and customized environments.
Feature description
Lato 9 labels are dynamic text elements associated with project items. They can be controlled through predefined rules and parameters and are designed to support both on-screen design and printed outputs.
Main capabilities:
Independent control of label visibility in the 3D view and in print
Centralized activation or deactivation of labels
Customizable appearance (text and background)
This allows designers to focus on the visual layout while ensuring that all required information is available in printouts.
How it works
Visibility in the 3D view
Designers can control whether Lato 9 labels are visible in the 3D environment using a dedicated visibility toggle.
The toggle applies to all Lato 9 types at once
Hidden labels remain active in the project
Visibility changes do not affect printing behavior
This allows designers to focus on the visual layout while ensuring that all required information is available in printouts.
Note! To set up the toggle, you need to send a request to the R&D department.
Printing logic
Printing is managed independently from on-screen visibility. Viewmaker includes Lato 9 labels in print outputs if they are enabled by rules and labels do not need to be visible in the 3D view to be printed.
As a result, printed documentation can remain complete even when labels are hidden during design.
Rule-based activation
Lato 9 labels are enabled through catalog rules and parameters.
Rules can define:
Which Lato 9 types are active
Whether labels are visible in the 3D view
Whether labels are included in printed outputs
For example:
A configuration parameter (such as
X1 = 3) can be used to keep labels hidden during design while ensuring they are printed.
Customization options
Lato 9 labels support visual customization to match project needs:
Configurable text font
Configurable text color
Optional background transparency
These settings help maintain readability and allow for greater customization. For instructions on customizing text appearance, see Customizing text style for Lato 9.
Tips for best use
Hide labels during design: Use the visibility toggle to reduce clutter when focusing on geometry.
Rely on rules for printing: Ensure that labels required in documentation are rule-enabled, regardless of visibility.
Technical requirements
Minimum required versions:
Engine ≥ 15.139
nextCore ≥ 4.43.2
The Default Lato 9 behavior is defined in
Config.json. See the article. See the article Lato 9 types configuration and control for detailed guidance.
