3CAD Next allows you to create fully customized room layouts directly in the planner by drawing walls in a 2D environment.
This article explains how to create, edit, and manage a custom room for a new project.
Create a Custom Room
Follow these steps to configure a custom room:
- Open 3CAD Next and log in.
- Select the appropriate shop (if your user is linked to multiple shops).
- Click New Project.
- Assign the project to a customer:
- Select an existing customer, or
- Create a new one, or
- Click Skip.
- Click Create From 2D View.
- Select the required catalog.
Note: This step is not required if only one catalog is available.
- Select the appropriate commercial or technical model.
Note: This step may vary depending on your front-end configuration.
- Define any header variants, if available.
Note: Header variants are preselected options applied to all items in the planner by default.
- Click Planner to open the 2D planner.
- Click the Catalog button on the left-hand side of the window to open the Wall library.
- Select the Walls tab.
- Select Standalone Wall. When you hover over the menu item, the + button appears on the icon. Click the + button. A wall segment appears in the workspace.
- Draw the first wall:METHOD A
- Move the cursor into the planner; the wall segment sticks to the cursor.
- Click to set the starting point.
- Drag the cursor to define the wall length.
- Click again to set the endpoint.
The wall length is displayed during drawing, and the wall turns gray when completed.METHOD BFor more precise control, use the advanced wall drawing option:- Move the cursor into the planner; the wall segment sticks to the cursor.
- Click to set the starting point.
- Drag the cursor horizontally, vertically or in the desired direction.
- Press the
Space Barto open the Edit wall dialog.
- Enter the wall length and depth.
- Press
Enterto apply the values and create the wall.
- Move the cursor into the planner; the wall segment sticks to the cursor.

Continue drawing additional walls:
- By default, the next wall starts from the previous endpoint.
- To start from a different point, press
Escand begin again. - Repeat until the room is complete.
- Press
Escto exit wall creation mode.

Click Projects in the top bar, then Save Project to save your work.
Notes!
- You can switch between 2D and 3D views using the toggle under the top bar.
- Walls can only be created and modified structurally in 2D view.
- Wall options (variants) can be applied in both 2D and 3D views.
Adjust walls and corners
After creating the room, you can modify wall positions and angles by interacting with the wall endpoint.
- Click the wall you want to adjust.

Select one of the anchor points (circular handles at each end of the wall).
- Drag the anchor point to the desired position.
- Release to apply the change. The angle is displayed while adjusting.
- Click on Projects in the top bar, and then Save Project to save the composition.
Change the angle between walls
- Select one of the two walls forming the angle.

Click the curved angle indicator (it turns light blue).
- In the Edit angle dialog, enter values for Angle and Diagonal.Note:
- Previous wall refers to the wall on the left.

Next wall refers to the wall on the right.
- Press
Enteror close the dialog to apply changes.
- Click Projects in the top bar, then Save Project to save the composition.
| Important: Wall lengths and angles are configured independently from floor or ceiling definitions. |
Set the wall variants
- Select the wall.
- Click the Catalog button to open the Library.
- Select Variants
- Choose the desired values.
- Click Projects in the top bar, then Save Project.
Note: This action is available in both 2D and 3D views.
Delete a wall
- Select the wall.
- Press
Deleteon your keyboard.
- Click Projects in the top bar, then Save Project.
