3CAD Next enables the configuration of currencies and units of measurement tailored to the specific requirements of each project. Traditionally, 3CAD manages currency and units of measurement within the Supervisor interface at the shop level, resulting in uniform settings for all users accessing the same shop.
Under this system, currency and units of measurement are not selected directly; instead, they are determined by the Country specified for the shop. Unlike the default language, user-level customization is not permitted.
With the introduction of the Multi pricelist functionality, this management approach has been partially revised. Currency is now associated with the individual price list selected by the user. For further information on the Multi pricelist feature, please refer to the article The Multi Pricelist Manager.
Note: To enable the new management system, the Multi pricelist functionality must be activated, and at least one price list must be configured.
UNITS OF MEASUREMENT
3CAD Next allows the visualization of measures in the 2 most diffused measurement standards:
- the metric system
- the imperial system
While the catalog in LayEdit can only be built using the metric system, 3CAD Next automatically converts values as illustrated in the following table.
| Type of measurement | Metric System UoM | Imperial System UoM |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Millimeter (mm) | Inch (in) |
| Weight | Kilogram (kg) | Pound (lb) |
| Volume | Cubic meter (mc) | Cubic inch (in3) |
The imperial measurement system conversion is activated when setting the shop's country to the United Kingdom (GB) or the United States (US).
CURRENCY
3CAD Next facilitates the visualization of the most commonly used current currencies. The configuration varies depending on your price list management method.
OPTION A
If you manage the price list using the latest Multi Pricelist Manager, currencies are configured within the dedicated Currency List.
Note: It is sufficient to manage a single commercial price list to require switching to this management method.
OPTION B
If price lists are not managed through the Multi Pricelist Manager, currencies are assigned based on the country selected at the shop level. The corresponding currency symbol is automatically displayed in 3CAD Next.
Note: Unlike units of measurement, 3CAD is unable to perform currency conversions due to the continuous fluctuations in exchange rates.
How do I set the country at shop level?
To set the country at shop level, take the following steps:
- Enter the Supervisor with administrator's rights (in the correct environment).
- Click on Shops, in the Administration section of the dashboard. The Shop list opens.
- Select the shop where you want to change the country, and click on Edit Shop in the top menu bar. Alternatively, double-click on the shop's code. The shop's form opens.
- Edit the shop in the Country field by selecting the correct one from the drop-down list.
- Click on Save Shop. The country is now set.
Note: If you do not find the country you need to select in the drop-down list, you need to add it to the Country table (see article How to fill the Countries table in the Supervisor).
