The variant applicator allows modifying a predefined set of articles' variants massively. Thanks to this tool, it is possible to define multiple articles' characteristics (such as finish and type of handles) in a single action, instead of changing them one by one for each item in the composition.
To use the variant applicator, take the following steps:
In the 3CAD Next planner, click on the Configure button on the left-hand side of the window to open the Library.
Click on the Var applicator icon to open the variant applicator interface.
Tick the Only to selected items box if you want to apply the changes only to selected items (OPTIONAL), otherwise, the changes will be applied to all items for which the specific change is possible.
Example If you are changing the Front Finish variant from “Matt Lacquered blue” to “Glossy Lacquered white” through the variant applicator, and you do not tick the Only to selected items box, the change will be applied to all articles having the Front Finish variant, and items without this variant will not undergo any change.
Note If you want to apply changes only to selected items, it is necessary to preselect them by enabling the 3D rotation tool, in the 3D view, and, to select multiple items, the Multiselection tool.
Identify the variants you want to change in the VARIANT column and click on them (either under the VARIANT, FROM, or TO column). The Set variant modal opens.
- In the modal, choose the alternative you need by clicking on it. You are redirected to the variant applicator interface, where you see a comparative list of values. The updated values appear under the column TO.
Click on the Apply button.
Note: It is possible to deselect variants you do not want to change by unticking the corresponding box on the first column.
- In the modal that opens, confirm the changes by clicking on Yes. The changes are now applied, and you can see the updates in the 3D view.
- Click on the Var applicator icon to close the variant applicator interface.
Note: With the same logic, it is possible to use the variant applicator to switch the composition to a different model, if existing. This is done by toggling the Search of the Variable applicator for model, and then selecting the new model by clicking on the magnifier.
When selecting another model, a comparative list of values highlights the differences between the two models, and it is possible to manually modify the variants as described in points 4 and 5 above. Press Apply to register the change.
