This feature introduces smart snapping to room obstructions (wall objects like doors, windows, pillars, services, etc.), extending the existing snapping behavior already available between articles (boxes).
It enables:
- alignment to wall-based elements
- improved positioning accuracy inside the room
- a consistent snapping experience across layout elements
-
visual snap indicators during movement.
Note! This functionality is available in 2D, 3D, and H View.
How it works
- Enable Snap To Elements under Tools → Snap options in the top menu.
- Start moving an article near an obstruction.
-
Snap point indicators (black dots) display during movement, then hide when released.
- Article snaps to obstruction edge.
Note! Snap to object obstruction constitutes an extension of the snap to elements feature; therefore, by enabling or disabling Snap To Elements, both the snapping to nearby items and the snapping to wall items are simultaneously affected.
Example scenario
Scenario
A cabinet is positioned close to a wall and the wall contains an obstruction, such as:
- a pillar
- a door opening
- a window
- or another wall-based element
Behavior
As the cabinet is moved near the obstruction:
- the system detects its boundary
- The cabinet automatically snaps to it
Result:
- Immediate alignment with the wall object
Best practices
- Ensure Snap to elements toggle is ON.
- Use axis movement in H View for precision.
-
Review layout in all views.
