When working in the 3D view, designers often adjust the camera to focus on specific details or areas of a project.
By default, 3CAD Next automatically applied a Zoom All after each 3D recalculation or article insertion, resetting the camera to the full scene.
By default, 3CAD Next automatically applied a Zoom All after each 3D recalculation or article insertion, resetting the camera to the full scene.
Starting from Core version 4.48.0, you can disable this automatic behavior and keep your current 3D viewpoint unchanged. This allows you to continue working from the same zoom level, orientation, and camera position without interruption.
How it works
3CAD Next provides a dedicated option to control the automatic Zoom All behavior in the 3D view.
When this option is enabled or disabled, it affects what happens after:
- a 3D scene recalculation
- the insertion of a new article
Available behaviors
Auto Zoom All ON (default behavior)
After recalculation or article insertion, the camera:
- re-centers on the full scene
- resets zoom level, orientation, and camera position
Auto Zoom All OFF
After recalculation or article insertion, the camera:
After recalculation or article insertion, the camera:
- remains exactly as set by the user
- preserves zoom level, orientation, and position
The selected behavior applies consistently and does not depend on the view mode.
How to enable or disable Auto Zoom All
- Open the Views menu in the topbar.
- Under Object Visibility locate the option Auto Zoom On/Off.
- Toggle the setting:
- ON to keep the traditional Zoom All behavior.
- OFF to preserve your current 3D viewpoint.
Your choice is saved automatically and remains active across sessions.
When this is especially useful
Disabling Auto Zoom All is particularly helpful when you:
- work on zoomed‑in or detail‑focused areas
- perform frequent recalculations during design refinement
- insert multiple articles in sequence
- use multi‑wall or precision planning workflows
In these scenarios, keeping a stable viewpoint reduces repetitive camera adjustments and improves focus.
