The Supervisor allows handling multiple versions of the same catalog.
Catalog versioning may be a useful solution when it is necessary to deliver a catalog with changes or updates while preserving the previous version for future uses. Access to catalog versions may be differentiated among users and shops. This feature is also used to manage catalog visibility among users and shops when two or more catalogs exist and their visibility needs to be differentiated (show or hide a catalog to specific shops or users).
Note: Catalog versioning is not related to offer versioning done in the Summary section of 3CAD Next (see How to restore quotes (versioning)).
In the Supervisor, it is possible to:
- Set the default catalog version
- Assign catalog versions to specific shops, users, or combinations of shop and user.
Note: Currently, the creation of multiple catalog versions is only possible from 3CAD Evolution.
Set the default catalog version
The default catalog version is set in the catalog form of the Supervisor, taking the following steps:
-
At the top of the catalog form, type the code of the default version in the Def. version field.
- Click on Save Catalog in the top bar.
Note: If the field is not filled, the default value is set to 0.
For further information on editing catalogs, see article How to create, edit, and delete a catalog in the Supervisor
Assign catalog versions to users or shops
Catalog versions are allocated to users and shops in the catalog form of the Supervisor, taking the following steps:
-
In the Versions section of the catalog form, set the validity dates of the version assignment.
-
Choose if you are assigning the catalog to a User, Shop, or combination User shop in the drop-down list.
-
Type the code of the version in the Version field.
-
Select the user, shop, or both in the drop-down lists of the fields shop and user, according to your needs.
Note: Both fields need to be set if you choose to assign the catalog version to a combination of user and shop.
-
Click on the + button.
- Click on Save Catalog.
Note: To prevent users or shops from accessing a catalog in 3CAD Next, take the steps above and type a non-existing catalog version in the Version field. By doing so, 3CAD will not return the selected catalog to the intended user or shop.
For further information on editing catalogs, see the article How to create, edit, and delete a catalog in the Supervisor.
