Commercial models are superstructures over the technical models created and managed in LayEdit (see article Layer 3) that allow you a wide personalization in product visualization and management, in terms of:
- authorizations,
- visible typologies,
- variants' limits,
- forced variants' values,
- forced default values,
- tags management.
A single technical model can benefit from declinations in multiple commercial models. Commercial models are created and managed in the 3CAD Next Supervisor and they require users to associate an additional code to technical models.
Commercial models can be assigned to specific users, user groups, shops, countries, and brands.
Example
In LayEdit technical model 1 is created. 3 commercial models A, B, and C are then created in the Supervisor, so that:
- A = technical model 1, visibility limited to solid wood materials, assigned to shop XX
- B = technical model 1, visibility limited to metallic materials, assigned to shop XY
- C = technical model 1, visibility limited to plywood, assigned to shop XZ
Commercial models can be structured hierarchically in one or two levels. In the two-level case, commercial models distinguish between Root and Final to further personalize product management. Root commercial models are used to group multiple final commercial models under the same "umbrella" model, while each final model directly relates to a specific technical model, and can have only one root.
Example
In the Supervisor, the root commercial models AA and BB, and the final commercial models A, B, C, and D are created. All final commercial models refer to the technical model 1, so that:
- Root commercial model AA groups final commercial models A and B, both referring to technical model 1;
- Root commercial model BB groups final commercial models C and D, both referring to technical model 1.
Note: When commercial models are implemented in a project, they need to be implemented for all technical models of that project.
When clicking on Commercial models in the Supervisor's dashboard, the Commercial model list of the selected catalog opens. Here, all commercial models created for the current environment (dev, test, or prod) are listed.
