Align on snaps is a feature designed to facilitate the precise and automatic alignment of objects within the 3CadNext 3D environment. It allows users to “snap” two points of the same category together, ensuring quick and accurate positioning of objects and streamlining the configuration process.
The main objective of Align on snaps is to improve the user experience by enabling precise attachment (snapping) of objects based on defined points, avoiding manual adjustments and ensuring positional accuracy.
Note: This animation displays a customized planner with tools positioned at the bottom. However, the feature illustrated and its functioning are identical on both standard and customized planners. See where to find this tool on the standard planner here.
How it works
1. Start the command
The user interacts with the 3D interface and clicks the Align on Snaps button, activating the alignment mode in the configurator.
2. Visualize snap points
Once activated, all available snap points on the selected object are displayed as precise 3D coordinates (x, y, z).
3. Select the point of origin
The user selects the first snap point, which serves as the origin for alignment.
4. Category filter
The system automatically filters and displays only those snap points that belong to the same category as the selected origin.
Note: The command only works between points of the same category.
5. Select the destination point
The user selects the second (destination) snap point. The object is automatically moved and oriented so that the origin snap perfectly coincides with the destination snap.
Command syntax
!ALIGNSNAPS category,x1^y1^z1|x2^y2^z2|...|xn^yn^zn
-
category: Name of the snap category.
- Each snap point is expressed with coordinates separated by
^, and points are separated by|.
Technical requirements
-
3D Mode Only: The feature works exclusively in 3D mode.
-
Predefined Snap Points: Objects must have predefined snap points.
- Software Version: Requires engine version 15.104 and Nextcore 4.40.3 or newer.
Notes and recommendations
-
Spatial Alignment: Alignment is performed based on the spatial coordinates of the selected points.
-
Category Consistency: Always ensure the snap points used belong to the same category for the function to operate correctly.
- Best Practice: Regularly update your 3CadNext environment to the latest supported version for full compatibility and optimal performance.
