Group of variants are variant restriction filters that can be used to personalize articles by limiting their variants' visibility. Groups of variants are created, edited, and deleted in the Catalog area of the Supervisor.
A group of variants can be structured as a variant's single filter (one-level filters) or as variant's subsequent filters (two-level filters), depending on the catalog's specifics. For a more detailed explanation on groups of variants' possible structures, see the article Restrictions on variants (group of variants).
When structured as two-level filters, firstly, a technical filter needs to be created in the Group of Variants section - see article How to create, edit, and delete a group of variants (technical).
Secondly, you need to create the subsequent filters in the Group of Variants (commercial) section. The necessary steps are illustrated below.
Create a group of variants (commercial)
To create a new group of variants, take the following steps:
-
Enter the Supervisor (in the correct environment).
-
If more than one catalog has been created in the Supervisor, select the right one at the top of the Catalog area.
-
Click on Group of Variants, in the Catalog section of the dashboard. The Group of Variants list opens.
-
Click on Create Group on the left side of the top bar.
-
In the form that opens, fill in the appropriate fields:
-
Cod.base: Recall the Group of variants (technical) within which you are creating this filter.
-
Code: Add an alphanumeric code freely defined. This code is added to the code of the Group of variants (technical).
Example
If the Group of variants (technical) code is knobs, the Group of variants (commercial) code can be knobs.metal -
Variant: This field displays the variant to which you are applying the filter. It cannot be modified.
-
Description: Free field. It is suggested to use this field to explain the nature of the filter.
-
Authorizations: Define the group's visibility to: Users, Shops, Countries, User groups, and Brands.
Note: Multiple authorizations can be granted simultaneously. For example, it is possible to authorize multiple users, shops, countries, etc., to the same commercial model, also combining different criteria at the same time. Therefore, authorization to model X can be granted to users X, Y, and Z, to all users belonging to shops 1 and 2, and to all users having access to brands 123 and 321 (authorization criteria are cumulative with each other). -
Options list: Tick the options you want to grant in the filter, among the ones selected in the group of variants (technical) of origin.
Note: The Group of variants (commercial) can only restrict the limitations introduced by the Group of variants (technical) of origin but not expand them. Therefore, only the options defined for the technical filter, or a subgroup of them, can be defined in the commercial filter.
-
-
Click on Save Group in the top bar. The new group of variants is now created and will appear in the list of Groups of Variants. The filter is now ready to be applied to a commercial model - see article How to create, edit, and delete a commercial model > Create a commercial model > Commercial limits on variants.
