Groups of variants are variant restriction filters that can be used to customize articles by limiting their variants' visibility. Groups of variants are created, edited, and deleted in the Catalog area of the Supervisor.
A group of variants can be structured as a variant's single filter (one-level filters) or as variant's subsequent filters (two-level filters), depending on the catalog's specifics. In both cases, the first step consists of creating a technical filter. In the case of a one-level filter, creating the technical filter in the Group of Variants section is the only necessary action to take, while for a two-level filter, it is necessary to complete the procedure in the Group of Variants (commercial) section. For more detailed guidance, see the article Restrictions on variants (group of variants).
The steps to create a technical filter in the Group of Variants section are illustrated below.
Create a group of variants (technical)
To create a new group of variants, take the following steps:
-
Enter the Supervisor (in the correct environment).
-
If more than one catalog has been created in the Supervisor, select the right one at the top of the Catalog area.
-
Click on Group of Variants, in the Catalog area of the dashboard. The Group of Variants list opens.
-
Click on Create Group on the left side of the top bar.
-
In the form that opens, fill in the appropriate fields:
-
Code: An alphanumeric code freely defined.
-
Variant: Recall the variant you want to apply the filter to.
-
Description: Free field. It is suggested to use this field to explain the nature of the filter.
-
Authorizations: Define the group's visibility to Users, Shops, Countries, User groups, and Brands.
Note: Multiple authorizations can be granted simultaneously. For example, it is possible to authorize multiple users, shops, countries, etc., to the same commercial model, also combining different criteria at the same time. Therefore, authorization to model X can be granted to users X, Y, and Z, to all users belonging to shops 1 and 2, and to all users having access to brands 123 and 321 (authorization criteria are cumulative with each other).
Options list
-
From date: fill the initial date of visibility of the options.
-
Not Recommended: Indicate from when the options become not recommended.
-
Obsolete: Indicate from when the options become obsolete.
-
To date: Indicate the ending date of visibility of the options.
-
Variant options: Choose the variant's options the filter applies to. Note: By clicking on the * (asterisk) button, it is possible to select all the options of the selected variant at once.
-
-
Click on the + button to add the options. It is also possible to set options with different reference dates in the same group of variants.
-
Click on Save Group in the top bar. The new group of variants is now created and will appear in the list of Group of Variants. The filter is now ready to be applied to a commercial model - see article How to create, edit, and delete a commercial model > Create a commercial model > Commercial limits on variants.
It is also now possible to create a two-level filter through the Group of variants (commercial). For more detailed guidance, see the article How to create, edit, and delete a group of variants (commercial).
