The Divider component allows you to create clear separations within a box in the 3CAD Next planner. Dividers are useful when you need to split a space into distinct functional areas, such as different product sections, within boxes. They are quick to insert, easy to adjust, and essential for creating customized spaces.
What is the Divider component
The Divider is a 3CAD Next component that provides a simple and flexible way to split boxes into sections, enabling more customizable designs. A divider does not remove or duplicate the box itself but introduces an internal split that can be manually defined horizontally or vertically.
Note: Dividers must be enabled and properly configured within the LayEdit rule to function correctly in the planner. There may be restrictions on the partitions created using the Divider tool regarding the orientation, quantity, spacing, and increments of dividers, depending on the specific characteristics of the design. These restrictions are established within the LayEdit rule.
"Fixed" partitions may also be specified within the configuration rule and cannot be altered in the planner. However, additional separations can be manually created within each predefined partition.
It allows to...
Create one or more separations within a box
Divide a space horizontally or vertically, depending on design needs
Adjust the divider position with full precision, according to the project's specifics
Maintain box dimensions while segmenting interior space
Practical uses
Splitting a wardrobe box into multiple compartments
Creating shelves within a storage unit
Defining separate functional areas inside a single structure
How to add a divider
Open the Planner in 3CAD Next.
Add the object to whom you want to add dividers to the scene.
Note: Dividers must be enabled and set in the configuration rule (LayEdit) to work correctly in the planner. If not enabled, the following options and buttons will not appear in the configurator.
Select the object.
Open the Variants menu.
Click on the box image within the menu to open the mask to set the divider's options (variants).
Note: Available options differ based on the design.
There are 4 ways to enter the Divider maker interface:
|
a. Click on the Open Divider button within the divider's mask. b. Double-click on the box image within the divider's mask. c. On the Top bar, click on Tools > Functionality > Open Divider
d. In 2D, click on the Divider icon in the toolbar. See here for more details. |

In the Divider maker interface, click the Create divisions button. Drag the divider into position. The divider can be placed horizontally or vertically, depending on the cursor movement. Repeat for adding more dividers.
If necessary, click on the Move Divisions button, then drag the divider to adjust its positioning.
Confirm the divider placement by clicking on Apply. The box in the planner is now visually segmented into two or more sections.
Edit and precisely position the divider
To modify the partition's options, single-click the box image in the Variants menu. This action will open the mask for setting the divider's variants. The available divider variants depend on the specific design and are configured within the rule (LayEdit). Examples of options include front type, handle type, color, material, and integrated elements.
A divider may be finely positioned using two distinct methods. For both, you need to enter the Divider maker interface.
METHOD A
To visually adjust the divider, click on the Move Divisions button then move the divider to adjust its positioning.
METHOD B
To edit the divider specifying the correct distances:
Click on the divider. The divider changes its color and the EDIT DIVISION section appears on the left-hand side.
Here you can specify the correct distances in terms of Left/top distance, Right/bottom distance, or Percentage.
Note: Limitations may be applied to dividers positioning it the configuration rule (LayEdit) depending on the project specifics.
How to delete a divider
Enter the Divider maker interface.
Select the division you want to delete. The divider changes its color and the EDIT DIVISION section appears.
Click on the Delete button on the left-hand side of the interface.
Tips for best use
Review divider positions in 3D view to confirm spatial accuracy.
Adjust divider placement carefully to maintain symmetry or alignment of the design.
Combine multiple dividers for complex layouts, if permitted in the project.
Remember that dividers do not alter the box’s external dimensions.
