The planner toolbar

Layers

This 2D tool allows you to independently manage specific "layers" (or types) of elements. These include Element layers and Measurement Layers.

The element layers that can be managed are:

• Base units (for example, base cabinets)
• Wall items (for example, doors or windows)
• Wall units (for example, wall cabinets)
• Walls
• Floor
• Ceiling

For each of them, you can decide whether:

• showing or hiding that type of element by clicking on the eye icon (for example, hiding all the base units),
• locking or unlocking it by clicking on the lock icon (for example, locking wall items).

For measurements, you also find the eye icon, which lets you view or hide measurement lines for specific types of items. Available options are:

• Floor elements
• Wall elements
• Openings
• Services
• Wall

Or, you can use the general toggle to hide or show all measurement lines at once.

Divider

This button opens the Divider maker. The Divider is a 3CAD Next component that provides a simple and flexible way to create clear separations within an object, enabling more customizable designs. 

Note: This button is visible only when dividers are properly configured within the LayEdit rule. See the article Using the divider component for more details.

Zoom all

With one click, you center your scene and reset it to full screen.

Magic links

Magic links manage article positioning beyond the standard positioning. They allow to override the standard alignment directions defined in the catalog.

Example: MagicLinks are useful for corner base cabinets that require customized links to the adjacent article.

Note: This tool is common to both 3D and 2D views and is enabled by default.

Multiselect

It allows you to select multiple articles simultaneously. When enabled you can either select all articles in sequence or draw a box that includes the articles while holding down the shift key. Selected articles can be moved together as a group until you unselect them.

Keyboard shortcut: Press CTRL + M to toggle multi-selection mode.

Note: The multiselection in the 3D view works only if the Move 3D button is enabled.

Grouping

It offers the possibility to group articles. Articles of a group can be repositioned as a whole, and groups are also preserved when switching between 2D and 3D views, or when disabling the Multiselection tool. Multiple groups can coexist, and one group can become part of a larger group.

Function

Multiple functional tools are collected within the function submenu:

• Snap wall
  
  When selected, articles snap to walls if positioned against one.
   
• Snap items
  
  When enabled, articles snap to nearby items automatically.
   
• Gallery > Load Gallery
  
  It allows you to load a template from the gallery.
   
• Collisions
  
  This controls how objects behave when they touch. If collisions are disabled, items can overlap; if enabled, items behave as they would in real life—never overlapping. When two articles collide, you'll see a warning message at the bottom of the screen.
   
• New origin
  
  This tool allows you to move the point of origin of the planner to a new point by selecting it with the red dot that appears when enabling the tool.
   
• Measure distance
  
  This tool works as a ruler and allows you to draw measuring lines both on the sides of the articles and detached from them. To measure elements, select the tool, click first on the measurement starting point, and finally on the measurement end point.

• Substitute item
  
  It allows you to substitute a new article to an article already positioned in the scene, instead of inserting it in the composition as an additional one. To substitute an article:

  • Enable the tool.
  • Select the article you want to be substituted with the new one.
  • Click on the new article. It is automatically substituted for the selected one at point 2.

  Note: This tool is common to both 3D and 2D views.

   

Mapping

This tool allows you to upload images, for example, planimetries, to position under the articles. When clicking on the tool, it is possible to complete 3 actions:

• Upload image
• Toggle map: it allows you to view or hide the image,
• Image scale: it allows you to rescale the image by defining the scale factor.

Delete item

It allows you to delete the selected items.

Undo

You undo the last action.

Redo

You redo the undone action.

Layers

The Layers tool lets you control the visibility of components and walls in your 3D workspace. With just a click, you can choose to show or hide different parts of your design, making it easy to focus on what matters most.

Components visibility allow  to view or hide:

• Countertops
• Doors

For walls, you get three options for visibility:

• Hide the observer wall
• Raise or lower all walls
• Selectively raise or lower individual walls

These options make it easier to work inside enclosed spaces and see every detail from every angle.

Move 3D

It allows you to switch from selecting the entire scene to selecting a single article or group of articles.

Multiselect

Play movements

It activates the articles' movements (for example the opening and closing of a front panel) whenever they were defined in the graphic rules.

Delete

It deletes the selected item.

Undo

You undo the last action.

Redo

You redo the undone action.
