In 3CAD Next, each configuration design corresponds to a project. Therefore, to start a new configuration, users first need to create a new project that can be developed in a variety of environments (standard room, customs room, or no room). Only one customer can be associated with a project, but a project can be saved even if it has no customer assigned. Once created, projects are stored in the Project list and users can recall them from there.
The general process of creating a new project is illustrated in the following steps:
- Access the correct 3CAD Next environment at the link provided, for example, "mycompany.3cad.it".
- Log in to 3CAD Next.
- Choose the desired language.
- Choose the appropriate shop (if your user is linked to multiple shops).
- Click New Project.
- Choose a customer to assign the project to, create one, or press Skip.
Note: If the Skip button is not displayed, it is necessary to choose or create a customer.

- Select whether to start the project from scratch (custom room), from a LiDAR scan, or from a template (standard room).
Note: Depending on your selection, additional screens may appear before proceeding to step 8. Please follow the instructions provided in the dedicated articles linked to the relevant keywords.
- Select the correct catalog by clicking on it.
Note: This step does not apply if users have access to only one catalog.
- Select the correct model by clicking on it.
Note: This step may refer to technical or commercial models and varies depending on the users' front-end configuration.
- Define the header variants, if any exist for the specific commercial or technical model selected.
Note: Header variants are variants that are preselected before starting the configuration. All the articles in the planner will have those variants as default.
- Choose whether to begin the configuration with an empty planner by selecting Planner, or with preset articles or compositions already included by selecting Inspiration to access the Gallery.
Note: This step does not occur if header variants do not exist for the selected model. In that case, you are redirected to the planner (step 12), and you can access the preset articles' gallery by clicking on Tools in the upper bar, then Gallery & Render, and finally Load Gallery.
- The 3CAD Next workspace opens, and you can start designing.
- (OPTIONAL) Name the project by typing the name in the field Project name here on the left-hand side of the upper bar.
Note: The project title can be changed at any time, and it is not mandatory. Conversely, the project ID is assigned automatically in sequential order and cannot be modified by the users.
The title is visualized under the column Description in the Projects list. If no name is assigned to the project, the Description column remains empty.
- Save the project by clicking Projects, then Save Project in the upper bar.
Note: It may be required to add a customer to save the project.
Important: The autosave feature is enabled by default. You can disable it or customize the auto-save interval. See the article 3CAD Next Autosave for more details.
As an alternative to the process illustrated in this article, it is possible to start a new project from the planner, by clicking Projects, then New Project in the upper bar. The subsequent steps are the same as those described above.
