In 3CAD Next, each configuration design corresponds to a project. Therefore, to start a new configuration, users first need to create a new project that can be developed in a variety of environments (standard room, customs room, or no room). Only one customer can be associated with a project, but a project can be saved even if having no customer assigned. Once created, projects are stored in a Project list and users can recall them from there.
The general process of creating a new project is illustrated in the following steps:
-
Access 3CAD Next in the correct environment, at the link provided, for example, "mycompany.3cad.it".
-
Login to 3CAD Next.
-
Choose the appropriate shop (if your user is linked to multiple shops).
-
Click on New Project.
Note: Alternatively, it is possible to start a new project from the planner, by clicking on Projects, and then New Project in the upper bar.
-
Choose a customer to assign the project to, create one, or press Skip. If you select a customer, it will appear beneath the customers' list, press Select or add new, then press Select customer in the pop-up window that opens.
Note: If the Skip button is not displayed, it is necessary to choose or create a customer.
For detailed guidance on how to create a new customer, see article How to register a new customer
-
Select the type of environment (standard room, custom room, no room).
-
Select the correct catalog by clicking on it.
Note: This step does not apply if users have access to only one catalog.
-
Select the correct commercial model or technical model by clicking on it.
Note: This step may vary depending on users' front-end configuration.
-
Define the header variants, if any exist for the specific commercial or technical model selected.
Note: Header variants are variants that are preselected before starting the configuration. All the articles in the planner will have those variants as default.
-
Choose whether to start the configuration from scratch or from a gallery article (preset article or composition).
To start it from scratch, press the Planner button. To start the project from a preset element press the Inspiration button, then choose the article or composition, and press the Open button underneath the article's image (see article Importing preset compositions from the gallery).
Then, select whether to apply header variants to the composition or not in the pop-up window that opens.
Note: This step does not occur if header variants do not exist for the selected model. In that case, you are redirected to the planner (step 11), and you can access the articles' gallery by clicking on Tools in the upper bar, then Gallery & Render, and finally Load Gallery.
-
You are now redirected to the planner, where you find the environment or composition selected and you can proceed with the configuration.
-
(OPTIONAL) To name the project, type the name in the field Project name here on left-hand side of the upper bar.
Note: The project title can be changed at any time and it is not mandatory to assign a name to projects. It is visualized under the column Description of the Projects list, and if no name is assigned to the project, the Description column remains empty. Conversely, the project ID is sequential and assigned automatically, and cannot be modified by the users.
-
Save the project by clicking on Projects, and then Save Project in the upper bar.
Note: It may be required to add a customer to save the project.
Important: Projects and project changes do not autosave. Therefore, it is important to save changes periodically while configuring, and before closing the session.
