3CAD Next allows you to shape the room’s top line in minutes by adding a ceiling directly in the 3CAD Next planner. You can choose between flat or sloped ceilings, then draw the perimeter with snap‑to‑corner anchors, refine materials, colors, and height , and add beams and skylights. All ceiling options are editable in both 2D and 3D.
This article focuses on adding a flat ceiling to standard and custom rooms; for pitched designs, see Add a sloped ceiling to a room.
Important!
- Both standard and custom rooms do not include a ceiling by default. You must create it manually.
- Ceiling design is independent from floor and wall design. Changes to one do not affect the others.
- Drawing and reshaping the ceiling perimeter are available in 2D view only.
Add a flat ceiling to a room
To insert a flat ceiling in a room, do the following:
- Open the room in the 3CAD Next planner.
- Select the 2D view.
- Click the Catalog button.
- Click the Select walls icon.
- Select the Flooring & Ceiling tab, then choose Ceiling.
-
Draw the ceiling perimeter:
- Click to set the starting point.
- Drag the cursor and click to define each edge.
- Continue until the full perimeter is complete.
If walls have already been drawn in the planner, wall corners snap to ceiling anchors (circles with four internal arrows) for easier drawing. When finished, press
Esc.
- Click Projects, then Save Project.
Note: You can switch between 2D and 3D at any time. The ceiling’s shape can only be edited in 2D, but you can change materials, colors, and height in either view.
Next step: After inserting the ceiling, you can refine it in Customize the ceiling.
