Wall visibility management in 3D gives you more control over how walls are displayed while you work in the 3D scene. By raising or lowering walls, you can improve visibility, move more easily through the space, and focus on specific areas without changing the actual project data.
This feature is designed to support navigation, detailed configuration, and review activities, while remaining fully compatible with existing tools such as Elevation Mode and Viewmaker.
Key benefits
Wall visibility management helps you:
Navigate complex rooms more easily in 3D.
Focus on specific walls or areas without visual obstruction.
Maintain full design accuracy, since visibility changes do not affect calculations, BOM, or project data.
Work seamlessly with other 3CAD modes and tools.
Feature description
Wall visibility controls are available from a dedicated Wall visibility menu in the 3D toolbar. The menu is styled and organized similarly to the Layers panel in 2D and Elevation mode for consistent design views.
The feature includes three main options:
Hide observer wall
Dynamically hides walls from the observer’s point of view, improving visibility during navigation.Raise/lower all walls
Raises or lowers all walls in the scene with a single action, giving you an unobstructed overview of the room.Selective wall raise/lower
Lets you control individual walls directly in the 3D scene.
Note! When Hide observer wall is active, the other wall visibility controls are disabled to avoid conflicting behaviors.
How it works
Global wall controls
From the Wall visibility menu, you can raise or lower all walls at once. This is useful when you want a clear, open view of the entire room while placing or reviewing elements.
The change is applied instantly and affects only the current view. The project structure, measurements, and outputs remain unchanged.
Individual wall controls
When enabled, each wall in the 3D scene displays an arrow above it, indicating whether the wall can be raised or lowered, depending on its current state.
You can:
Click the down arrow to lower a specific raised wall.
Click the up arrow to raise a specific lowered wall.
See immediate visual feedback as the wall state changes.
Lowered walls are treated as a visual aid and they remain part of the project.
Hide observer wall
This feature automatically hides walls based on the observer's viewpoint, significantly enhancing visibility while navigating and designing within the space. By dynamically removing walls that obstruct the line of sight, it allows for a clearer and more immersive experience.
When this option is activated, both the Global wall controls and the Individual wall controls are disabled to avoid any conflicting actions, ensuring a smooth and consistent behavior throughout the design process.
Interaction with other features
Wall visibility management is designed to work smoothly with other 3CAD features:
Elevation Mode
Wall visibility changes apply only to the 3D view and do not interfere with the elevation mode.
Viewmaker
During Viewmaker generation, any lowered walls are temporarily raised to ensure correct processing. Once generation is complete, the previous wall visibility state is restored automatically.
-
Element placement and editing
Interactive elements such as magic links, add links, and positioning tools remain available, even when some walls are lowered.
Persistence and scope
Wall visibility is stored as a view state:
It is not included in the Undo/Redo history.
It does not affect design logic, calculations, or the bill of materials.
Tips for best use
Use lowered walls when navigating tight spaces or working inside complex rooms.
Raise all walls before final visual checks to review the full room structure.
Lower only specific walls when you need to focus on one side of the room.
Remember that wall visibility affects only what you see, not the actual project.
