3CAD Next offers the possibility to enrich the room with a customizable ceiling. Both standard and custom rooms do not have a ceiling by default.
To add the ceiling to a room, do the following:
- Open the room in 3CAD Next planner.
- Select the 2D view.
Click on the floating button on the left-hand side of the window to open the Library.
Click on the 'Select walls' icon between Library and Variants.
- In this menu, select the Ceiling tab and click on the Ceiling element.
Start drawing the ceiling perimeter by clicking on the initial point, dragging the cursor, and clicking again at the end of each side until the whole perimeter is drawn. For an easier drawing, the wall corners are magnetic to the ceiling anchor points (represented by a circle with four internal arrows). When the ceiling is ready, press
Esc
.
- Click on Projects in the top bar, and then Save Project to save the composition
Note: To view the ceiling in 3D, users can freely move between 2D and 3D visualizations by clicking on 2D and 3D respectively on the menu bar. The ceiling configuration is only available in 2D visualization, except for the materials, colors, and height settings.
At this stage, users can further edit and customize the ceiling according to their needs, applying the changes illustrated in the following paragraphs.
Adjust the ceiling shape
- Click on the ceiling.
Click on one of the anchor points (circle with four internal arrows) located at the corners of the ceiling.
- Drag it while holding the cursor down.
- Release it when in the correct position.
For a more tailored shape, add more anchor points by clicking on one or more circles with internal + positioned on the ceiling's perimeter.
The circle with internal + will turn into an anchor point (circle with four arrows), and it will be possible to use it as an anchor. At each side of the anchor point, a new circle with internal + appears, to be used for a more refined shaping.
- Click on Projects in the top bar, and then Save Project to save the composition.
Note: Setting the ceiling's area and shape is independent of setting the floor or walls. All these elements need to be adjusted separately.
Change the ceiling's settings (materials and dimensions)
- Click on the ceiling.
- Click on the floating button on the left-hand side of the window to open the Library.
Click on Variants.
- Set the ceiling's settings, such as material or height from the ground.
- Click on Projects in the top bar, and then Save Project to save the composition.
Note: This action can be performed both from 2D and 3D visualization.
Delete the ceiling
- Click on the ceiling.
- Press
Delete
.
- Click on Projects in the top bar, and then Save Project to save the composition.
